A Huge Thank You & An Exciting New Addition!

I hope you all had an amazing weekend. If you remember, on Friday I mentioned I had something special to share with you. While this update isn’t about a specific animal, it is about something that is going to make our work here so much easier!
A while ago, Johan and Verna Swart reached out to offer us a cage. As soon as I saw the photos, my head started spinning with ideas—as it always does! It is a beautifully built, solid, and incredibly strong cage.
On Thursday, Johan braved our difficult road—which is no easy feat with the sand and potholes—to bring it to us. I felt like a child waiting for a new toy! We managed to get it unloaded and moved into its special spot over the weekend. Because it is so well-made, I’ll be able to use it for many different types of animals.
A note on “Second-Hand Gold” Receiving used items like this truly warms my heart. It shows that people are thinking of the animals. To many, an old item might be “trash,” but to a rehabber, it is gold. Second-hand items are often the best because they’ve already stood the test of time.
Whether it is something big like this cage or something as small as a lid without a bowl, we can find a use for it! If you are ever clearing out old items, please ask your local rehabber if they can use them before throwing them away. I can almost guarantee they will say yes and be incredibly grateful.
