Free Spirit Wildlife Sanctuary is a haven for wildlife, hidden deep within the lush African bush of Sodwana Bay, in northern KwaZulu-Natal. Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and rich biodiversity, our sanctuary is dedicated to providing a safe space for animals in need.
Our mission is deeply rooted in conservation and compassion: we rescue animals facing adversity, offer them the care they deserve, and work tirelessly to rehabilitate them, ensuring they can return to their natural habitats whenever possible. Every rescue is a story of resilience, and every rehabilitation is a step toward preserving South Africa’s extraordinary wildlife.
Through dedication, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to ethical conservation, we strive to make a lasting impact on the lives of the animals we protect. Whether it’s tending to injured creatures, nurturing orphaned wildlife, or advocating for sustainable coexistence between humans and nature, Free Spirit Wildlife Sanctuary stands as a beacon of hope for those who need it most.
Sodwana Bay is located on South Africa’s east coast, in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. It sits within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and South Africa’s first Marine Protected Area.
The bay is renowned for its pristine beaches, coral reefs, and incredible diving spots, making it one of the top destinations for marine exploration in the country. It lies between St. Lucia and Lake Sibhayi, offering a mix of coastal beauty and rich biodiversity.
Free Spirit Wildlife Sanctuary is nestled in the heart of Sodwana Bay, tucked away in the African bush in northern KwaZulu-Natal. Our mission is simple yet profound: to rescue, provide compassionate care, and rehabilitate the wildlife that finds its way to us
Every rescued animal at Free Spirit Wildlife Sanctuary has a different story—a different struggle, a different journey to recovery. But no matter their background, they all share one vital need: food.
